Opossums are respectful creatures, never confronting others with the intention of
harm. If one should feel threatened, however, her body enters an involuntary,
catatonic state, often referred to as playing dead. This defense mechanism is used with
the hope that eventually, the offending party will lose interest and leave her be.
When you receive this card: You are deserving of respect, support and compassion. Be mindful of present relationships and safeguard yourself from those that are unhealthy. Ask the Spirit of Opossum to shield your heart from pain and suffering and in turn, lead you to those who will lift you higher and encourage you to be your best self.
