This is a fine art print of my original watercolor painting of a lion.
 
The word CAN'T has a way of making one feel helpless and vulnerable and I know this from first hand experience. Many years ago, I was fresh from shoulder surgery and unable to paint for two months due to a challenging recovery. That deep longing for familiarity eventually pushed me into seeing things from a different perspective, so I set aside my ego and began a series of work using my non-dominant hand. Lion here was one of those. I wasn't concerned about perfection or using my supplies properly; I simply needed to create again and I can't begin to express how wonderful it felt to find a way to make that happen. Lion is my reminder that no matter how hopeless things may seem, there's always a way.
